Lenten Discussion Series
On Tuesday evenings in March from 6:00—8:00 pm at Chef Alan’s in West Reading (the back room), we gather with our Christ Church friends to discuss Reformation history, theology and English reform.  The aim is to understand the uniqueness of our common witness in Christ so that we can share the good news with others. Please call the church office by February 22 to sign up.

MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES

March 4 – Stones of the Covenant
Deut 5:1-22; 2 Cor 3:1-3; Matt 21:42-46

March 11 – Millstone as Metaphor for Punishment of Sin

2 Thess 1:6-10; Matt 18:6-9

March 18 – Jesus as Stumbling Stone/Rock of Salvation

Isaiah 12:1-6; Romans 9:30-33; 1 Cor 10:1-4

March 25 – Jesus the Living Stone on which the church is founded
1 Peter 2:1-10; Matt 3:7-12

April 1 – Jesus, the Foundation Stone for Life
Deut 8:1-10; Eph 3:14-21; Matt 7:24-29

Note: Sundays and Seasons suggests that we provide rough (not smooth) stones for members. They are to represent sin and the jagged experiences of life. They suggest having a cross shape outdoors for the stones to be placed on Good Friday or Easter, or to have a large cross in a container indoors, into which the stones can be placed. Each could signify Jesus’ taking our sins to the cross, bringing forgiveness. Let’s talk! Preacher chooses 1 or 2 reading/s and prepares 5 minute meditation on the theme.
